Bruce Furness- Member at Large
Bruce served as Mayor of Fargo from 1994 to 2006 and as a City Commissioner from 1992 to 1994. He worked for IBM for 30 years in several locations. From 1992 to 1995 he was employed by the Greater North Dakota Association. He worked for State Bank and Trust of Fargo and now resides in Bismarck.
Bruce is a member of the Board of Directors for Metro Sports Foundation. Involved in the community, Bruce has been associated with many civic organizations including current activities: serving on the Board of Directors of State Bank and Trust, Tri-College University, North Dakota Economic Development Foundation, the Lions Eye Bank of North Dakota, the Consensus Council and Jamestown College. He serves on the Xcel Energy Advisory Board and as Chair of the Lake Agassiz Water Authority and Mountain Plains Equity Group. He is a member of the Fargo Lions Club, the Fargo Chamber of Commerce, and First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Furness has received several awards including the Sertoma Service to Mankind Award, the GNDA Community Leadership Award and is a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International.
